The Secrets of Sleep

Posted by admin | Important things | Friday 25 September 2009 5:43 pm

We’ve all experienced sleepless nights and know this the next day feels terrible, but not getting adequate sleep may remarkably be worse for you as opposed to you realize. Recent surveys undergo revealed that the number of hours we sleep may actually have an effect on our risk of obesity, and apparently, the moderated shut eye we get, the further we are at risk!

There’s several reasons for this

Firstly is the strong link between obesity and sleep apnea. It’s a known fact that obesity is a major factor in sleep apnea, and is often listed as one of the main causes. As it seems however, this may be a two way street. Once a person becomes a victim of sleep apnea, without very strict dietary control, even more pounds pile on.

Sleep apnea causes sleep deprivation, and, of course, the more sleep deprived a person becomes, the less active he or she is. Less exercise causes weight gain, but is that the only reason we gain weight?

Secondly, there is also a link between sleep and hormones, in particular those hormones that control our eating behaviors, ghrelin, which causes us to get hungry, and plays a role in the regulation of weight, and leptin which causes us to feel full. When you don’t get enough sleep it’s not just tiredness that kicks in, ghrelin increases as well, while the level of leptin in the body decreases, so you feel hungry, and find it hard to fill yourself up.

The worse part is that when your tired or sleep deprived your also more likely to choose convenient and often unhealthy snack foods that are easy to prepare and filled with unnecessary calories.

So how much sleep is enough?

For most people, between seven and nine hours is a good guide, although some may need more, and occasionally some people need less. The best way to tell how much sleep is enough for you personally is to take a holiday or allow yourself a few days off to sleep for as long as you want, keeping track of what time you fall asleep and wake again. After a couple of days your body clock will stabilize, and you will find yourself sleep for around the same amount of hours each day. Then once you know you can set yourself a good routine, making sure that you go to bed at around the same time to make it easier for your body to adjust.

If you find it hard to sleep a good tip is to turn off the TV, computer or whatever your doing at least fifteen minutes before bed, and let yourself relax,

How many more reasons do we need before we realize the importance of sleep in our lives. And yet loss of sleep could also lead to a loss of physical and mental health, to poor memory, poor coordination, and now, to weight gain and obesity.

Sleep tight for a healthier and slimmer population.

Coconut water is fresh taste …. especially when you just take it from the fruit…

Coconut milk is supposed to be drink immediately after removed from the fruit because it ferment quickly if hit the air. That’s what causes a sense of coconut water rapidly changing.
For that coconut water is usually a long-removed from the fruit and mix (the seller) with sugar water and milk so that the taste is not too asemnya be felt.

Here’s a summary of the benefits of coconut water:

1. Contains nutrients, vitamins and especially minerals.

term and only 20 people sample).

Ayam Bakar Taliwang

We have found this small & delicious ‘kaki lima’ cafe near “RM. Nasi Gandul” Pesanggrahan that served : “Ayam Bakar Taliwang” (Lombok/Sumbawa authentic cuisine) . So we (I) had dinner there and ordered : “ayam bakar taliwang” (grilled wild young chicken with Lombok ’s style chilli sauce) with a portion of “pelecing kangkung” (Cooked fresh water spinach (kangkung), mixed with a sauce made with chilli, fish paste/terasi, tomato salt and lime). both are very hot and spicy. So if you can’t stand spicy food better not risk yourself to try it :). Besides “pelecing kangkung” and “ayam taliwang” they also served “beberok terong” (cooked eggplant with fresh chopped onion and chili sauce).

Warung Solo
Its a hawker food vendor place located near “RM Nasi Gandul” Pesanggrahan, opened every afternoon. served mostly Solo/ Javanese food such as : “Gudeng”, “Nasi Liwet”, “Garang Asem”, “Soto Ayam”, etc. I already try their “Nasi Liwet”, “Garang Asem” and “Soto Ayam”. All of it were so delicious and came with a very reasonable price too :)

Ayam Goreng Single Borobudur
This place was very recommended. It’s located on “Kaki Lima” not far from Sunter Mall, there’s lots of interesting food stall there. I notice that most of it were from Pontianak food. Ayam Goreng Single Borobudur offer their delicious and crispy fried chicken, plus other gorengan like : tempe goreng, tempe bacem, tahu goreng, usus goreng (one of their speciality) served with a plate of kremesan ayam, nasi uduk plus a very hot sambal terasi.

Bebek Goreng Joko Putro
I always love to have duck for my meal as an alternative for chicken. Among my favorite there were “bihun bebek binjai” - pasar muara karang , peking duck - the duck king, Bebek Goreng Suryo. A couple of week ago with some friends I tried this one, located in kakilima, the banner outside said : “Joko Putro : Nasi Uduk, Bebek Goreng, Ayam Goreng, Pecel Ayam/Lele …” so we ordered “Bebek Goreng” with a plate of “Nasi uduk”. the service was quite fast & clean. the taste not bad, the meal came with lalapan & sambal terasi dadakan. Compared to other “bebek Goreng” from its class, but I think I like “Begor Suryo” better than this one.
