Fruit Is Better Than Vitamins

Fruit that is rich in vitamin C are powerful antioxidants that can protect cellular DNA from damage due to oxidation. Serena Guarnieri and researchers at other Division Human Nutrition, University of Milan, Italy, suspected that vitamin C supplements do not have the same protective effect with fruit such as oranges. The subject test is given to drink one glass of orange juice, beverages that contain vitamin C and the processing of sugar solution. And orange juice drink with vitamin C that has been processed, each containing 150 mg vitamin C, while sugar is not the solution.

Vitamin C levels in blood plasma increased after the orange juice and beverages that contain vitamin C results processing. DNA damage due to oxidation decreased the mean blood sample on the test subject to get the orange juice drink with vitamin C that has been processed and sugar solution did not show the protection effect. Thus, it can be concluded that vitamin C is not the only component that is responsible for the effect entioksidan, there are other things that need to be examined further. Vitamin C is available in the matrix along with the various other useful substances likely to interact with one another. Nutrient other researchers suspect that the possibility of sugar in the juice interact with vitamin C to produce the effect antioxidants. Effect of compound fitokimia (sianidin-3-glikosida, flavanon and karotenoid) that there need to be inspected in orange for further clarify the allegations of this.

So, better you pick a fruit than vitamins!

Children and Vegetables

Posted by admin | Healthy Eating | Saturday 28 February 2009 12:15 am

There are many reasons for everyone to enjoy eating a wide variety of vegetables and fruit. Vegetables and fruit provide important vitamins such as vitamin C and folic acid. They also have other plant substances that are thought important to help prevent some diseases. Unfortunately, we and our children often eat less fruit and vegetables. Sometimes children may learn to expect ‘tastier’ high fat and sugar snack foods instead. Perhaps parents give up offering vegetables or fruit because it seems children often leave these on the plate or in the lunch box.

Here are some tips to make your child eat more fruit and vegetables:
- The best way is to set a good example for them.
If you eat and enjoy fruit and vegetables every day, your children may eventually follow
your lead. It may take time, but this is how children learn best.
- Remember to offer children a variety of fruit and vegetables every day.
Children’s serving sizes may be small and will depend on age, appetite and activity levels.
Remember that any amount is better than none, and always be on the lookout for ways to
include more. Focus on lots of different vegetables and fruit, not the amounts.
- Involve your children in food preparation and planning.
Most of children are happy when we involve them to prepare the food. While preparing, we
can also explain to them the benefits of fruit and vegetables.
- Pay attention to presentation.
You must remember that good shape will attract people, also the children. Try to prepare
your vegetables and fruits in cute shapes.
- Include fruit and vegetables wherever possible.
Use our creative mind. For example, when your children can’t eat banana, make it in juice or
cake, or other things that they like.
- Keep trying, don’t give up!

GOOD LUCK!

10 Habits To A Healthy Body

Posted by admin | Health and Fitness | Wednesday 25 February 2009 2:28 am

Your future will be defined by your habits.

Here are 10 Habits To A Healthy Body:

1. Move!

Each morning, do simple stretching and breathing movements—take time to pray also can help—for 30 minutes. Do a few push ups, sit-ups, and chin-ups. Just a lil’ movement will help you because when we hit 50, we start losing 1.5% of our muscle strength every year. This is the reason why you see a lot of 60-year-old people who are very weak today—because they didn’t move their body. So walk. Swim. Play badminton. Move!

2. Eat The Best Kinds Of Food

Eat a lot of vegetables and fruit and less of meats. Eat fish! If you used to eat rice, take organic brown rice and wheat bread. Fry with soya oil, corn oil, or olive oil.

The Old Testament called certain foods unclean—like pork, crustaceans, shells, fish without scales—and modern science has found out that many of these foods have higher toxicity. Pork has more toxins than other meats. Crustaceans and shells are the scavengers of the sea. And because fish release their toxins through their scales, fish without scales have slightly more toxins. I’m not saying you shouldn’t eat these delicious food, but perhaps minimize them in your diet.

3. Juice Your Vegetables

Every morning, drink fresh vegetable juice. I throw into my Juicer four large carrots, one long celery stick, and one apple. The advantage of juicing? By juicing, I’m able to consume 4 large carrots in two minutes flat—something that would take me one hour if I munched them. Give lemon if you can’t stand with the taste or smell! It will help so much.

4. Supplement

Take supplements and vitamins that your body needed.

5. Sleep Like A Baby

Sleep for 6-8 hours a day. No more or less! Don’t think to much before you go sleep. Pray before you sleep so you can have a sleep like a baby!

6. Drink Enough

The first thing I do when I wake up is drink a glass of room temperature water. For many of us, what we think are hunger pangs may just be our thirst. So when you feel hungry, drink water first. And eat water-rich foods like fruits and vegetables.

7. Work With Passion

Get into something your love to do. When you enjoy your work, it isn’t work. It’s play. And that keeps your body humming. Your body gets the message: “I need you to be healthy, because I’m here to bless the world.

8. Feel Your Feelings

Our bodies are simply the blueprints of our emotions. When we get sick in our bodies, many times, it’s simply manifesting our stress, our fears, our anxiety, and our unresolved angers. I strongly urge you to become aware of your emotions and bring them constantly to the Lord. Before Him, work through them. Feel them, yes. Respect your emotions, yes. But lay them at His feet and follow God only.

9. Be Happy

Be a positive person. Happy people are generally healthier than unhappy people.

10. Love Well

Love your wife/husband, children, and friends! Go, have some dates with them at least once a week…

7 Dont’s After A Meal

Posted by admin | Healthy Eating | Sunday 22 February 2009 3:55 am

* Don’t smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

* Don’t eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air.. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

* Don’t drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

* Don’t loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted & blocked.

* Don’t bath - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

* Don’t walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

* Don’t sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.
